Barnes also calls this cartridge’s open tip match boat tail bullet the Match Burner. A Match Burner achieves virtually perfect in-flight rotational stability thanks both to its super-concentric gilding metal jacket and its evenly distributed lead core. (The aperture in the OTM’s tip is not designed to trigger terminal expansion – it is there because it lets the lead core settle in place until it becomes form-fitting.) The Match Burner possesses a ballistically efficient profile, which gracefully tapers at its base to generate as little drag in flight as possible.
