This 6.5 PRC cartridge by Hornady, the same company which developed the caliber, is designed to deliver absolutely devastating terminal performance from any reasonable distance. When this round’s 143 grain ELD-X projectile strikes game at a higher trajectory from less than 400 yards, its sturdy jacket shank and high InterLock ring work in conjunction to prevent core/jacket separation so it can retain up to 60 percent of its mass. Beyond 400 yards the bullet’s tip is reliably driven deep down into its core to initiate controlled expansion with up to 90 percent weight retention.
