This cartridge isn’t loaded with a conventional 40 grain bullet. It is loaded with a 39 grain bullet, which is admittedly not that big a difference.

The bullet has got a couple of unique things going for it, though. First, it is guaranteed to become subsonic out of a revolver; perfect if you want to feel as little recoil as you’re able, create as little noise as you’re able, or both. Second, it is a truncated cone solid. Its sides are sloped instead of curved, and its tip is flat instead of round – an optimal profile for target shooting.
