TMKs are an evolution of the original jacketed MatchKing round with a pointed, resin windshield that improves in-flight drag resistance. This feature combines with a pronounced boat tail rear and precisely shaped jacket to yield formidable groups as tight as 1/4 MOA. With a weight of 69 grains, this bullet profile matches many hunting and match loads and enables reloaders to copy proven recipes with even more favorable results.
Even though it is considered a heavy weight, these .224 inch diameter bullets are capable of being stabilized by 1:9 twist rate barrels which are very common in precision, bolt-action rifles chambered in .223 Remington. Sierra advises shooters not to use the TMK for hunting purposes because it is not designed for expansion but for single, ragged-hole accuracy at extended range. Sierra tests each lot of projectiles and is constantly tuning their equipment so that they can ensure a maximum weight and jacket concentricity of .003 grains and .0006 inches.
