The 30 Super Carry only entered the market in 2022. That means no one grew up firing it (yet), so we’re all still learning the subtleties of its performance. If you’re in the same boat as everyone else, then Federal Premium of Minnesota offers their American Eagle series 30 SC so you can take to the range and start doing your favorite thing: shootin’.

This cartridge’s bullet tips the scales at 100 grains, and its muzzle velocity out of a pistol’s 4” barrel is a supersonic 1,250 fps. Those two specs are the same as Federal’s HST personal defense load, which makes firing this ammo very instructive. The FMJ’s incapacity for terminal expansion does make it the lesser choice for self-defense, but its smooth-feeding flat nose profile is perfect for when you just want to empty out mags on paper targets.
