A .30 cal field box’s exterior dimensions are approximately 11" x 4" x 7”. That gives it the capacity for about 600 loose rounds of 223 Rem, 1,000 rounds of 40 S&W, 770 rounds of 45 ACP or 1,200 rounds of 9mm.
