American Eagle black box ammo from Federal is praised for its inexpensive cost, reliable function, and accurate performance. These .223 Remington rounds are crafted using non-corrosive Boxer primers fitted into reloadable brass casings which are crimped to the cannelures of full metal jacket (FMJ) projectiles; this crimping arrangement tightens groups by preventing setback and jostling under recoil. Each FMJ bullet weighs in at 55 grains which is common for the caliber and will provide light recoil for training and target practice.

This load profile is also compatible with a wide range of barrel lengths and twist rates as well as numerous scope reticles and drop charts. That means shooters can expect prime precision from all manner of ARs, SCARs, and bolt-guns. Since the early 1920s, Federal has used quality components to build top tier ammunition for law enforcement applications, common hunting use, and competitive match requirements. Their American Eagle line is intended to be a low cost option for range work that won't halt training with shoddy workmanship.
