50rds – 5.56x45 Magtech 77gr. HPBT Cannelured MatchKing Ammo Details

There’s a specialized ammunition for virtually any application you could enjoy using your AR-15 for: home defense, hog hunting, deer hunting, even zombie hunting. But if you want to see exactly how accurately your AR can perform, and we mean grouping shots together like there was a bullet magnet behind the bull’s eye, then you need this 5.56x45 cartridge by Magtech. It owes its stellar performance to its 77 grain projectile, which is a MatchKing by Sierra. The bullet boasts an unbelievably concentric thin jacket, which along with its uniformly dense core grants it superior rotational stability. Its hollow point meplat is narrow for added aerodynamics, and its tapered base enhances its ballistic coefficient for a noticeably flatter trajectory. This bullet even sports a cannelure to prevent harmful setback.

This round further features Magtech’s first rate brass casing, which cycles as smooth as syrup and is sturdy enough to be fired multiple times. Count on this round’s propellant to create an extremely consistent chamber pressure, and its non-corrosive primer to deliver dependable ignition.

Great ammo and a super bargain. Was able to do some comparison shooting of 5 shot groups @ 100 yds out of my 18" White Oak Armament SDM barrel. As a benchmark, I put 5 rounds of Eagle Eye 69gr Precision Match into a 0.43 MOA group. Black Hills Mk262 Mod 1 five rounds right at 1.0 MOA. Then I put 5 rds of CBC Magtech 77gr OTM into 0.70 MOA. Outstanding consistency. I'll be stacking this stuff deep.

This ammo performs exactly as advertized, compared to Black Hills 77gr 5.56 (mk262) this ammo in the one box I chronographed is only slightly slower (15fps less peak velocity) than Black Hills out of the same gun but with a standard deviation of only 6 its very consistent. Its also just as accurate if not more so. My AR-15 shoots Mk262 at an avg of about .450, and an absolute best Ive recorded black hills out of my AR was .218". My best group with this ammo was an astonishing .187" at 100yds. However the next best was .239" the rest were hovering around .425" discounting groups with called fliers. I did just upgrade to a better trigger so I dont know if the increase in ultimate and average accuracy is the ammo or the better trigger. Either way this is very consistent ammo at a comparable price to Black Hills. I would not hesitate to use it again.
