This shell’s a right beast at 3-1/2", but it needs that much space for its generous 1-3/8 ounce helping of shot. Steel shot, of course, which is completely nontoxic to keep you from landing in hot water while you’re hunting waterfowl. So much shot really tears out of a shotgun’s muzzle at 1,550 fps, which gives steel the big energy it needs to compensate for its low density.
