Shotshell recoil energy is the product of five variables: (1) shot weight, (2) muzzle velocity, (3) powder weight, (4) wad weight, and (5) shotgun weight.

How, then, does this 12 Gauge shotshell by Fiocchi produce such light recoil? By dialing down 1 and 2, of course!

This round’s shot column weighs 7/8 ounces. That’s a full load for a 20 Gauge target shell, but pretty light for the larger 12. Its muzzle velocity is 1,200 fps, which is on the low end of the normal spectrum for 12 Gauge target loads. The result? Less kick on ignition, so you can (A) avoid fatigue during long range days, (B) soften muzzle flip so you can smash clays in more rapid succession, or (C) help a newer or younger shooter learn how to master the 12 without getting thrashed around too much.
