There are 422 pellets of #7.5 steel shot in a single ounce. Compare that to #7.5 lead shot, which is 350 pellets per ounce, and you’ll appreciate how this shell delivers such a thick pattern. It’s also a narrow pattern, as steel doesn’t deform under pressure like softer lead does. And because its muzzle velocity is a little hot, this shell does what it can to compensate for steel’s relatively lower density.
