Hornady Ammunition 230 Grain XTP Ammo Details

You don’t need a suppressor to fire this fine 45 ACP ammunition by Hornady of Nebraska. You just need a .45 cal handgun and a finger to squeeze its trigger!

This cartridge is loaded with a 230 grain bullet, which is set to clear a 5 inch barrel at a velocity of 925 fps. Obviously any 45 ACP round is going to give you the subsonic muzzle velocity a suppressor prefers to muffle, but this ammo is also loaded with flash-suppressed powder that will emit less blinding light in the dark.

Hornady’s XTP is one of the best jacketed hollow points on the market. It feeds smoothly because its jacket fully shields the lead around its nose cavity. It flies along a predictable trajectory courtesy of its swaged lead core and drawn jacket’s balanced weight distribution. It also expands consistently thanks to its protected rim and notched jacket which thickens toward its base.

This ammunition is a natural choice for personal protection, but if you’ve got an AR-45 you’ll also find it more than capable of managing varmints. Wouldn’t John Browning be proud if you used the 45 to whack a rodent!
