This 45 ACP cartridge features Federal’s 210 grain Hydra-Shok bullet. Designed to excel at meeting the criteria of the FBI test protocol, the Hydra-Shok features a center post and precisely notched jacket that both serve to make expansion extremely reliable. This particular Hydra-Shok has an even more robust center post and lead core that enable it to consistently penetrate to a depth of 15 inches in bare ballistic gel. That depth is ideal according to the FBI test protocol, making this round’s terminal effect optimal for quickly neutralizing a human-sized target.

So effective a bullet demands premium supporting components. This round’s primer delivers reliable ignition, and its propellant is specially formulated to generate a steady chamber pressure and ensuing 980 fps muzzle velocity. Its factory fresh casing wears thin nickel plating, enabling it to prevent a jam as it passes through a semi-automatic. Nickel’s innate ability to resist corrosion will also prove invaluable if you don’t intend to fire this self-defense load any time soon.
