20rds – 223 Rem Remington Disintegrator Lead-Free 45gr. Jacketed Frangible Ammo

Remington Ammunition 45 Grain Frangible Ammo Details

This 223 Rem ammo won’t actually disintegrate your target. We don’t have the technology for that just yet. What it will do is offer practical ballistic performance for training indoors and shooting steel targets with substantially less risk of injury to the shooter.

This cartridge has a 45 grain bullet. It’s so lightweight because it contains no lead. Instead the bullet is made of compressed iron and tin powders, with a copper jacket to strengthen it for more reliable feeding in a semi-automatic rifle.

When the frangible bullet strikes a surface harder than itself it will self-destruct on impact, effectively removing the risk of splash-back or a dangerous ricochet. And with zero lead to its name, this bullet will help to keep your indoor range’s air a whole lot more breathable!

A frangible bullet’s most common application is training and target practice. While there are more effective bullets for self-defense, a frangible bullet’s reduced risk of penetrating walls combined with its still powerful terminal effect does suit it quite well for home defense when the safety of bystanders must be taken into account.

This ammo is brass cased, with noncorrosive Boxer primers that are shielded against humidity by lacquer sealant. Remington’s rugged primer is built to spark up reliably over temperatures ranging from -20 to 150 °F, and their proprietary blend of propellant is just as reliable. This frangible ammo is loaded to achieve an average muzzle velocity of 3,050 fps, which is only about 200 fps slower than typical M193 55 grain FMJ ammo.
