The 12.7x99mm – or as normal people call it, the 50 BMG – is like the biggest kid on the high -school football team. It’s not the fastest. It’s not the most popular. But it hits like a freight locomotive, and it’s always fun to watch it in action.This particular .50 cal ammo is made by Magtech, which is one of the world’s leading ammunition manufacturers and exporters. Magtech easily could have sold this exact same ammunition to any national military, but they saved it for you instead!
This cartridge’s 624 grain full metal jacket projectile exits a 45” barrel at a rate of 2,952 fps. Its 12,077 ft lbs muzzle energy is equivalent to that of a one-ton object traveling at 14 mph! The full metal jacket projectile has an ordinary gilding metal shell, although its steel core makes it just as capable of attracting a magnet as you would expect.
Magtech suits up each 50 BMG round with a noncorrosive Boxer primer and reloadable military grade brass case. The case hasn’t been polished to a fine cosmetic shine, so you will see where it was heat-treated at the factory.
