Igman Ammunition 62 Grain Penetrator Ammo Details

This 5.56x45 ammunition by Igman isn’t magnetic because it has cost-effective, bimetal jacketed bullets. It isn’t steel cased, either! No, this is M855 ammunition, newly manufactured and imported from Bosnia and Herzegovina over in the Balkans.

The M855 bullet is special because of what’s in its core. The frontal section of the pointed bullet is made out of pure steel – this lets the “penetrator” bullet live up to its name, as it can pierce 0.125” sheet metal fairly reliably at close to medium range. The rear section of the penetrator bullet is made out of lead, and its exterior is fully jacketed with copper alloy. A penetrator is great for regular target shooting (wherever magnetic bullets are permitted), and its tendency to split in half after striking a threat gives it suitable terminal ballistics for personal protection.

Igman’s virgin brass cases seal a rifle’s chamber to prevent excessive fouling of the action during ignition. They also have the suppleness they need to be reloaded several times. Igman’s Boxer primers are as non-corrosive as you should expect from any of the premium American brands.

A 62 grain bullet is most accurate when fired from a 1:9 or 1:8 twist barrel; 1:7 is also acceptable.
