50rds - 38 Special Winchester W Train and Defend 130gr. FMJ Ammo

50rds - 38 Special Winchester W Train and Defend 130gr. FMJ Ammo Details

Winchester’s W Train & Defend System provides a practical solution for seamless transition from practice rounds to practical self-defense. The system pairs ballistically matched range-ready TRAIN (T) rounds with effective, technologically advanced DEFEND (D) ammunition. Each component is designed for less recoil and consistent point-of-aim to increase shooter confidence.

This factory fresh .38 Special ammunition belongs to the TRAIN component of the system. Each cartridge is loaded with a 130 grain full metal jacket (FMJ) projectile. Delivering minimal terminal expansion, these clean-shooting rounds are ideal for target practice and tactical drills.

Leaving the muzzle at a velocity of 900 feet per second, each round produces 243 foot pounds of muzzle energy. This ammunition is non-corrosive, boxer primed, non-magnetic, and features reloadable brass cases. Rounds are easy to differentiate from their DEFEND counterparts which feature bright nickel-plated cases and jacketed hollow points. Each package contains 50 high quality training rounds.

This is actually pretty good ammo, although others have had issues I have had only good experience with this stuff. I've run about 5 boxes of this ammo through various J frames and Ruger LCRs as well as vintage S&W K frames and the recoil is very mild by comparison. It even makes the lightweight 38 LCR shoot comfortably. No problems with dirt, residue or over fouling. Worth a try.

This ammo is really dirty. Heavy residue clogged up my revolver after 40 rounds. Not at all what I expected given that the bullet is FMJ and the primers are lead free. Try to find something else.

Shoot out of J-frame no real reduction in recoil compared to other light .38 loads. If you want low recoil practice loads go with the 38 Special Fiocchi 148gr Wadcutter ammo it is cheaper, and just as accurate.
