460rds – 5.56x45 Black Hills 77gr. OTM Mk 262 MOD 1-C Ammo in Ammo Can Details

We don’t sell surgical instruments – but we do offer ammunition that effectively turns 5.56x45 rifles into surgical instruments. We are speaking about Mk 262 MOD 1-C, which Black Hills Ammunition of South Dakota developed for the United States Navy Mk12 Special Purpose Rifle. It was specifically designed to give that firearm an effective range of 600 yards, and its superlative accuracy certainly does carry over to civilian model ARs.

This round’s bullet isn’t just accurate because it is extremely heavy. It is the Sierra MatchKing, i.e. the most successful bullet in the competitive shooting circuit. The open tip match’s nose cavity will not trigger expansion. It is there because Sierra needs a way to inject the bullet’s lead core into place while it is still molten. In addition to its perfect weight distribution, the MatchKing’s peak jacket concentricity ensures excellent rotational stability.

Mk 262 MOD 1-C ammo is loaded with all the same components as the military’s own Mk 262 MOD 1, including high-quality reloadable brass cases and special edition MatchKings that have cannelures. It’s also just as accurate. It just isn’t tested in accordance with the same standards as the materiel Black Hills supplies to Uncle Sam. To sweeten the deal, Black Hills packages 23 boxes of their tack-drivers in a sturdy seam-welded steel ammo can.
