Barnes Bullets 80 Grain Solid Copper Hollow Point (SCHP) Ammo Details

This 380 ACP cartridge is from Barnes’ TAC-XPD line of ammunition, and it features an 80 grain TAC-XP projectile that will turn even the most compact handgun into a beastly weapon to have on your side during a life or death altercation. The virtue of the TAC-XP’s monolithic copper composition is that it’s able to retain practically the entirety of its weight as it spirals through heavy fabric, muscle tissue, and bone to ensure the production of a deep wound channel. The bullet’s gaping hollow point nose cavity further enables it to mushroom widely as it penetrates. If your assailant survives their experience with a TAC-XP, they’d surely not sign up to take the ride a second time.

Barnes doesn’t make second rate stuff. This round is loaded with a low-flash propellant, so if you’re assaulted in the dark your first shot won’t render you unable to aim well. This round’s brass casing further features a Techni-crom plating that greatly enhances its ability to cycle smoothly as well as resist corrosion.

This round performs as designed from my wife's Sig P290 RS .380 Auto. I don't think the round is weak, just the brand pistol you are using. And yes I have used a Glock 42.

Three hundred reliable rounds through a Kimber Micro and SIG P238. Both control and muzzle flash are optimum for my wife's and daughter's pistol. I also use the same defense cartridge for my 3" Kimber Ultra without issue in 45 ACP.

Tested this ammo out of the Glock 42. It does not cycle properly. I experienced a malfunction about 1 every 3 rounds. Obviously, not the load you want if you are running a Glock 42. Do not know how well it cycles in other 380 pistols.

This ammo is too weak to cycle a Glock 42. Weak is not a word I want associated with a self defense round.

If you have a Glock 42 this ammo will not work in it. Barnes knows of the issue seeing I called them to check on it. So save yourself the trouble and look at a different carry load.
