20rds – 30-06 Hornady Precision Hunter 178gr. ELD-X Ammo Details

Long-range hunting with a 30-06 Springfield rifle? You couldn’t ask for a better cartridge than Hornady’s Precision Hunter series 178 grain eXtremely Low Drag - Expanding cartridge. This round’s bullet showcases Hornady’s Doppler radar research into polymer tip technology. That’s why it features the Heat Shield – a polymer tip that cannot deform as it rockets through the air faster than double the speed of sound. The ELD-X always points a perfect meplat at its target!

The Heat Shield is far from the ELD-X’s only accuracy enhancing feature. Between its concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket, secant ogive geometry, and optimal boat tail angulation, this is a bullet that consistently achieves a G7 ballistic coefficient of 0.278 (G1 BX 0.552). Zero in at 500 yards and expect a trajectory that doesn’t rise higher than 20” above the bore.

The ELD-X supplies great terminal ballistics as well. If you take your quarry within ranges up to 400 yards, the ELD-X’s InterLock ring and thick copper shank ensure that the bullet retains at least half of its weight. Hike it out to even farther distances and the ELD-X will produce a large mushroom accompanied by no less than 85% weight retention. Wide expansion and deep penetration with every shot!

Hornady loads Precision Hunter ammunition with … well, precision! Every round in this box of 20 possesses its Nebraskan manufacturer’s best-in-class primer, propellant and case – all meticulously loaded and inspected to guarantee exemplary accuracy.
