Hornady Ammunition 73 Grain ELD Match Ammo Details

What makes Hornady’s ELD Match so darn accurate? It’s not just its heavy 73 grain weight, which gives this 223 Rem round’s projectile the momentum it needs to resist the meddling effects of wind drift. It’s everything else about the bullet, too!

The ELD Match is streamlined. Its Heat Shield tip is completely immune to aerodynamic heating, so it doesn’t lose its spear-like shape while it’s moving through air at double the speed of sound. The ELD Match’s sleek secant ogive profile and tapered base do even more to minimize in-flight drag.

The ELD Match is also rotationally stable. Hornady’s AMP jacket is essentially flawless in its concentricity, and it contains an evenly distributed lead core. Once this round’s ELD Match bursts out of a 24” barrel, its 0.398 G1 ballistic coefficient (0.200 G7 BC) means that its trajectory should climax at 6.55” before reaching a 300-yard target. Its trajectory will drop to -13.52” after passing that 300-yard zero.

Please take care that the ELD Match cannot undergo terminal expansion, as its polymer tip is solely designed for enhanced accuracy. Hornady’s stringent quality control applies just as thoroughly to their bullets is it does the Nebraskan company’s first-rate brass cases, match primers and propellant charges.
