Remington doesn’t load their Nitro Turkey shotgun shells with a lot of fancy bells and whistles. Instead they load the highest-quality traditional components they’re able to manufacture. And you know what, folks? Turns out that’s all a 12 Gauge round needs in order to kill a tom dead.

This 3” shell stores a massive 1-7/8 ounce payload of #5 shot – approximately 320 pellets total. Instead of plating this shell’s lead shot pellets with expensive copper and packing them with granulated buffering material, Remington just focused on casting the hardest lead they are able. This prevents virtually all deformation during ignition, which in turn delivers an 80% efficient pattern density. In other words, this round lands about 250 or so of its hard shot pellets square on a gobbler.

It’s a powerful pattern, too. Remington’s Power-Piston wad erupts from the barrel at a velocity of 1,330 fps and immediately pulls back to let such a potent formation of shot fly fast and true. This magnum shell’s powder doesn’t leave behind much residue following ignition, and its high-brass hull will serve as a great reloading component.
