If 308 Win is the way you like to showcase your marksmanship, then Hornady Match will satisfy your highest standards!If you already know your 308 bullet weights, then you’ll recognize this round’s 178 grain projectile as a hefty boy. It uses that mass to retain superior downrange momentum – the key to shrugging off wind resistance. The boat tail hollow point also features the drag-minimizing base and form-fitted lead core that are both requisite for outstanding long-range accuracy. The BTHP’s hollow point won’t trigger terminal expansion, however, which is why we wouldn’t choose this ammo for taking medium game. (A varmint, on the other hand … well, let's just say that a woodchuck won’t fare well against the 308 no matter what kind of bullet it’s packing.)
This round’s bullet achieves its advertised 2,600 fps muzzle velocity and 0.530 G1 ballistic coefficient upon clearing a 24” barrel. Hornady does even more to ensure clockwork ballistic performance by outfitting their Match series ammo with premium reloadable brass cases, carefully standardized propellant charges, and equally consistent primers.
