The 20 Gauge shotgun makes a smart solution for home defense. This shell is packed with 20 beads of #3 buckshot. The 0.25” diameter pellets are smaller than 0.33” buck, which simply means more injuries to the threat coupled with a reduced risk of over-penetration. And since this shell’s shot column weighs just over an ounce all together, its 1,145 fps muzzle velocity ensures you’ll sink well over 1,000 ft lbs of energy into the threat over any range your home’s layout could make it possible for you to cover. (For reference, 1,000 ft lbs is the recommended minimum for deer hunting.)
This shell’s shot pellets are packed in granulated buffering material. The supple little granules absorb the shock of ignition before it can cause significant deformation to the shot pellets, thus assuring they stay round enough to pattern closely together. The shot pellets are also copper-plated, which makes them too hard to become deformed before leaving the barrel. Copper-plated shot pellets also penetrate soft tissue more deeply, which only increases the likelihood that you’ll deal an instant KO to your attacker.
