8mm MAUSER

The 8mm Mauser (aka 7.92x57mm Mauser, or 8x57mm) was the German military’s standard service rifle cartridge during both World Wars. Many Americans brought 8mm Mauser rifles home with them as soveniers, and companies like Remington have even chambered new hunting rifles for it. Its .324 cal bullet’s high ballistic coefficient and sectional density are just as big a problem for medium game as they once were for our troops.
