50rds – 9mm Silver Bear 145gr. HP Ammo Details

Why should spending a whole day at the shooting range have to cost an arm and a leg? When you’ve got the Silver Bear at your side, it really doesn’t. This 9mm cartridge has a steel casing with a non-corrosive Berdan primer, which sacrifices reloadability in favor of affordability. The “Silver” in Silver Bear refers to the casing’s zinc plating, which helps it cycle better and also grants it some resistance to corrosion. It doesn’t mean that you ought to shoot bears with it -- but, if you must, we recommend using it for the koala type of bear rather than the polar one. The polar bear would just use your pistol to pick his teeth after eating you.

This round also features a 124 grain hollow point projectile. The bullet will widen substantially as it tunnels through a soft target, making it a fine choice for self defense, although for its low price it’s still more than appropriate for range training.

Does not expand! What is the point of buying hollow point if it will not expand? I'm just glad that i did not buy a lot of this ammo... One might as well buy regular ball ammo, and save the frustration. First, i was shooting into water, I noticed that it did not expand, so I started shooting into clay. still no expansion.

This ammunition was distinctively underpowered. I fired 150 rounds and had one failure with what seemed like a ridiculously underpowered round that ejected so weak it stove piped in my G17. Other than being weak, fired clean and accurately.

This HP ammo does not expand in to bare water from a XDm 4.5" barrel 9mm. 3 rounds tested with almost no expansion. However, I still give it 3 stars since it is cheap 145 gr practice ammo that had no misfires. Do not ever use this for a defensive carry load!
