Federal Ammunition 158 Grain Jacketed Hollow-Point (JHP) Ammo Details

These Hydra-Shok rounds from Federal utilize premium components in order to give private citizens and law enforcement personnel some of the best functionality and terminal ballistics available. Each of these .357 Magnum rounds utilizes a reloadable brass casing equipped with a clean-sparking Boxer primer. Both components are nickle-coated for corrosion resistance in storage and holsters alongside smooth cycling and ejection. The case houses a 158 grain projectile and prevents it from sliding back via a light body crimp; this helps optimize accuracy and preserve reliability.

158 grains is the common heavy weight for the .357 caliber and matches various practice, defensive, and match loads for a familiar trajectory and recoil impulse. The projectile is of a jacketed hollow-point (JHP) design with a tall lead plunger in its center cavity. En route to target, the plunger helps deflect clogging material like denim and drywall which could halt expansion. During entry into a threat, the projectile's increase in diameter will cause it to yaw and create a larger permanent wound cavity in vital areas for a more efficient drop. Hydra-Shok rounds also exhibit remarkably low muzzle flash so that shooters can attain faster follow-up shots in a self-defense situation.

Federal Premium is a well-respected American company with decades of production experience. Their ammunition serves spirited hunters, long-range enthusiasts, and even Olympic level competitors.
