Moderate recoil, has a nice spread, consistently. Only thing is that it smells pretty bad, and fouled my barrel a little more than I would have liked to see. Great shell for the price though.

I WENT TO THE RANGE RECENTLY AND WAS OVERALL IMPRESSED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE SHOT SHELLS. THESE ARE HIGH POWER BUT THE RECOIL IS MILD AND I WAS ABLE TO SHOT OFF 10 RAPIDLY AT 15 YARDS WITH MY "RUSSIAN HAMMER" 12 GAUGE SEMI-AUTO SHOTGUN. BELIEVE ME THE ROYAL BRAND IS REALLY GOOD STUFF! I LIKE THE # 4 BUCK FOR CLOSE SHOOTING-TRY THE ROYAL # 4 BUCK- IT STREDS A BIG HOLE RIGHT IN THE TARGET - I'M TELLING YOU AT CLOSE RANGE IN LIKE A HOME INVASION -I MEAN ANY SHELL OR BULLET KILLS BUT A # 4 BUCK WILL WILL CREATE A WOUND CHANNEL LIKE A CHAIN SAW JUST RIPPED A CIRCLE AROUND THE FLESH. I CUT A CARDBOARD TARGET RIGHT IN HALF WITH THE # 4 BUCK.

As always, Rio has been top in my book. With the full power 00 buckshot, I was impressed at how its concentrated patterns always stay "on target". I could literally count each of the 9 pellets on the target from 25 meters. This is with a tactical choke of course.
