These .300 Ultra Mag rounds from Hornady's "Precision Hunter" line represent the current pinnacle in match-grade hunting ammunition. Precision Hunter cartridges are built with both big game and long range precision in mind which is why they are loaded with Hornady's Extremely Low Drag - eXpanding (ELD-X) projectiles. The ELD-X bullet design has unmatched accuracy and devastating terminal effect due to its precisely manicured boat-tail and secant ogive, AMP jacket which is engineered to be uniformly concentric to the center, heat-shield polymer tip, and interlock ring which adorns the lead core.
The polymer meplat of each 220 grain bullet is not only resistant to melting (which can occur at high speeds and open up groupings), but perfectly molded to the same shape every time for consistent performance. The hollow space that the polymer tip occupies produces wide expansion upon impact at any hunting distance while the interlock ring inside the projectile retains weight and prevents jacket separation. That means that these .300 RUM rounds will always penetrate deep beyond the thick hides of moose and elk while depositing maximum energy into vital zones for clean, efficient drops.
These rounds also use the best quality components such as reloadable brass casings equipped with reliably igniting Boxer primers and charged with Hornady's own unique blend of propellant. Hornady was founded in 1949 and has not only maintained their reputation for creative projectile design and component quality, but for inventive calibers as well. Precision Hunter is one of the latest in Hornady's custom lines of ammunition which all cater to a specific discipline of shooting via purpose-driven research and unmatched material sourcing.
