If you’ve driven through the country on a typical summer night, odds are you’ve seen the lights in the distance and maybe even smelled the 20 gauge gunpowder in the air. Although the sport of Trap was invented by the English Gentry to simulate rising Quail and Pheasants, the sport of Skeet is entirely a North American invention designed to simulate hunting Mourning Doves and White Winged Doves. While skeet and trap differ drastically from each other in that Skeet involves shooting at passing targets whereas, Trap involves shooting at rising and fleeing targets, they are similar and beloved by shooters all over the world.
Due to their differences, skeet and trap require different 20 gauge loads, with different rounds specifically tailored to the different types of shots. For instance, low velocity 20 gauge target loads with small shot are the favored load for shooting Skeet whereas, higher powered loads with larger shot are often favored for shooting Trap because the higher velocities and heavier shot pellets provide better long range performance. Consequently, specialized 20 gauge Skeet and Trap loads are readily available on the market today and our team aims to keep a steady supply of just about every option available to shooters in-stock.
